Cleaning supply, return and verification

Define cleanable circuits alongside the process—not after it.

Separate open fruit-handling equipment from closed tomato-product circuits and coordinate CIP routes, drainage and cleaning access.

Separate open-machine cleaning and closed circuits

Belts, rollers, guards, screens and chutes need physical access for removing product residues. These open-machine tasks differ from circulating cleaning media through closed product pipework and vessels. A CIP station should not be presented as a substitute for access to every exposed surface.

Map the line into defined cleaning zones. Preparation, refined-pulp transfer, evaporation, thermal processing and filling interfaces may require different routes and operating procedures. The map should explain which equipment is connected to each circulation path and what remains an open-cleaning duty.

Check the return path as carefully as the supply

A cleaning circuit needs a suitable supply path, a usable return, drainage and a means of checking that the intended conditions reach the equipment. Piping arrangements and low points affect product recovery and retained liquid as well as the cleaning operation.

The station selection depends on the circuits it is expected to serve and the available utilities. Define cleaning media, sequencing and required verification points without assuming that a generic vessel arrangement proves cleaning performance across an undefined line.

Make the procedure practical in the installed layout

Leave access to screens, circulation pumps, instruments and removable connections. Service clearances should be visible on the layout before adjoining machines make them difficult to reach. Appropriate isolation and guarding remain part of the installed operating arrangement.

Agree how the cleaning route and operating sequence will be checked for the actual process. Include the final thermal and filling interfaces in that review. An equipment specification should describe the intended circuit boundaries rather than make unsupported claims about every product or cleaning outcome.

Questions about this equipment and process

Will CIP clean the outside of fruit conveyors and screens?

Closed-circuit cleaning and open-machine cleaning have different tasks. Access and a suitable procedure are needed for exposed or removable parts.

What information is needed to select a CIP station?

Define the connected circuits, supply and return routes, cleaning sequence, utilities, drainage and verification points.
